MR. MACK AND THE RAILWAY-MEN
Sir,—ln your issue dated September 27, 1918, an article appears stating that the Auckland members of the A.S.R.S. lind, by a big majority, tired, or rather defeated, a resolution condemning Mr. Mack for contesting the Wellington Central seat, and figures were quoted no doubt to foster the idea that Sir. Stack's action had the approval of a large number of railwaymen. This is not so, as there was only an attendance of 41 at the meeting, and 18 wore for the motion and 26 against—quite a bia; majority. It was also stated that delegates from WelJington were in attendance to push the motion through. _ This is incorrect. There was one visitor from Wellington present on the invitation of the chairman. This gentleman, who is an executive councillor of tho A.S.R.S. was in Auckland on holiday, and it was considered a. good opportunity for members to hear'his version of A.S.R.S. affairs.—l am, etc., FISHBOLT.
