AT AWAPUNI CAMP
MEDICAL CORPS ENTERTAINED. The Forty-second section (trained reservo) of the New Zealand Medical Corps were entertained by their comrades at Awapuni Camp during the week-end. Everyone off duty turned up at the Y.M.O.A. room, and a very varied and pleasant concert programme was presented. The camp orchestra showed its capacity in fino renderings cif classical and popular items, the latter being accompanied by a male voice chorus, comprising almost the wholo audience. Mr. R. Vance (Y.M.C.A. Held secretary), who presided, voiced everyone's feelings in wishing the Forty-second a pleasant voyage and a wife return after good work faithfully done, and he suggested that the thorough training at Awapuni would make the section another valuablo unit of the N.Z.M.C. Songs wore rouderal by Privates Cowins, Hazelwood, and Gallieher. Private Wheeler gave, a "tabloid" lecture on the Western front, with blackboard illustrations; Private Flanagan contributed nu amuning stump speech; . Private Buckley gave a flute solo, and combined with Private Bwart, (violin) in a dnet. At the close, the performers, all of whom were encored by the appreciative audience, were thanked on behalf of the section by Corporal Atkinson.
