SHIPPING LOSSES IN AUGUST
ADMIRALTY'S REPORT SLIGHT INCREASE ON JULY FIGURES London, September 2-5. The Admiralty reports: "The total tonnago of British, Allied, and neutral merchant tonnage sunk in August was 327,676, of which tho British tonnago was approximately 178,000, aiid that of other countries 150,000. Steamships exceeding 500 gross tons entering and leaving the United Kingdom from and to overseas countries, oxoluding coastwise and cross-Channel services, totalled 8,159,000 gross tons, compared with 7.719,000 tons in July—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [Tho losses in July wero: British, 176,479 tons; foreign, 186,532 tons; total, 313,001 tons.] OUTPUT FROM U.S. YARDS 55,000 TONS DELIVERED LAST WEEK. Washington, September 25. It is officially announced that thirteen ships, of a total of 55,000 deadweight tons, wero completed and delivered by the Emergency Fleet Corporation during the week,ending September 20, six of steel and soven woodon and composite.—Aus.-N.Z.
