NO LOAN TILL 1919. With reference -to the published statement in regard to the cost of the •war in New Zealand, a representative of The Dominion approached the lion. Arthur Myers, Acting-Minister of Finance, who stated that apparently the figures were extracted from the quarterly returns published by the Treasury. The conclusion arrived at that the oost of the war was at tho rate of nearly £3,000,000 per month from March 3l June 30 is not oorrec.t. The figures given include; tho amount paid to the Imperial Government for maintenance for a period of six .months. Mr. Myers added that, as a matter of fact, the average monthly expenditure, for war purposes is under £2,000,000. Asked whether any further war loan was likely to be floated this month, tho Minister stated that in all probability this would not be necessary until the early part of nest year. - -
