DIPHTHERIA PREVALENT
FORTY-EIGHT OASES IN A MONTH Diphtheria is still uncomfortably prevalent in Wellington. According to tbo Health Inspector's report to the \ Hospital Board yesterday, 48 cases of diphtheria were reported during the month - ended September 17, as against 40 the previous month. This denoted tlmt the disease was liot abating appreciably, <ind that the utmost caro should be taken by parents whenever children complain of sore or affected throats. The disease is not nearly tho mcnaco to life that it was, but it is still dangerous wheni it is not taken in time.
Only one case of scarlet fever was reported during the month, as against ten during the preceding four weeks. Miramar was the only suburb that did not produce a ease of diphtheria in. the period under review.
