SAPPER. MOORE JONES'S COL- . LECTION. '

Some time ago Sapper Moore a New Zealand artist who joined up with the British section of the hew Zealand Expeditionary Force, offered to the Now Zealand Government a series of water-oolour sketches of the country on Gallipoli Peninsula over which tho troops in that region- fought tho Turk. It was considered that the sketches had great historical value, as being the, best record in existence of tho battle-i grounds while the fighting was still going on. The price at that time for I the whole series was £1000, and tho artist was to have the right to publish reproductions of the pictures, ihe Government decided not to buy. Ihe question of purchase by the Government has been raised again, but now tho price "asked is £1500. It is understood that an offor has been made from' o private source to subscribe half the cost , of the pictures. On this later proposal the Government has not yot come to a decision. I
