THE NEW MILK SCHEME
Sir,—You will remember the story of the sailor' wdio, happening on a streot fight i» progress, inquired if it were a private fight or could anybody join in? While the present milk vendors are squabbling among themselves in a private sort of fight, and unable to agree, to the "blocks" each will take, tho sailor may be taken to represent those who ree ii good thing and are- anxious to join in and become vendors under the new scheme. It is a. very flimsy shadow the present vendors are contending over, but they should realiso the risk they run of losing the very substantial substance. The public is solid behind the Milk Committee, and will not tolerate dictation from the vendors nor further.pandering to them. Mr. Bodley objects to the suavitur in modo attitude of tho committee, and complains of delay from which he must not altogether excuse himself, though, since he has appreciated the benefit of the new ; scheme to the public' and to himself, I bolievehe is anxious to see it in operation. Tho timehas certainly arrived for the committee, under the "boundless power" which Mr. Bodlev ascribes to the council, to now adopt the fortiter in ro attitude if the present milk vendors fail to come into line, and allow those agreeable to the scheme to take their blocks, allocating the remainder by lot among those who now wish to become vendors.—l am, etc., G. A. T.
