MANIFESTO

(Published By Arrangement.)

PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIA- , TION 01" N.Z. (Incor.) WELLINGTON "cENTR-AL ELECTION. To the Protestant Electors of Wellington Central: ' Ladies and Gentlemen,—The uprise and growth of the P.P.A. has made it clear to all thoughtful Protestants that every candidate for a seat in Parliament must be considered not on his party predelictions, but on his attitude to the principles of Protestantism. We therefore nsk your consideration of the following facts, viziMr. Eraser, the nominee of the Social Democratic, Party, is a member of an organisation avowedly opposed to loyalty to the King and Empire, and an AntiConscriptionist. Mr. W. T. Hildreth, the Government nominee, though nominally a Protestant, evidenced his principles by endeavouring, as a member of the City Council, to thwart the Protestants of Wellington organising, by refusing them the use of the Town Hall for a P.P.A. gathering, notwithstanding that .the Town Hall is the property of the citizens, of whom l.ho great majority are Protestant. Such an action justifies his repudiation by all Protestants. To elect him to Parliament would bo to further imperil our liberty and strengthen the anti-Protestant attitude of the Government. Mr. M. J. Mack is a Protestant who, whilst not a member of the Association, is prepared to strenuously and wholeheartedly support "equal rights for all; special privileges to none." He has. in response to the solicitations of his fellowworkers, who are disgusted with the Labour extremists, consented to contest the seat. The Dominion Exccntivo has, therefore, decided to endorse the candi-' datiire of, and to ur?e all Protestants to vote for, Mr. M. .T. Mack. Bv so doing .you will demonstrate:— (D.Thnt the National Government has, by its unfair restriction of Protectant T.'iWntm-o. and its truckling to Borne, forfeited the confidence of the Protestants of tlii" Dominion. (2) That the P.P.A. is not opposed to the inWest-' of the democracy' or a mere adiunct of any political party, but will supuort the candidates who are firm for Protectant rifrhts and liberty. (ft T'tat whilst the P.P.A. is lovnl and determined "to see victory against TCnisori"'n we nr» n-st orepar"d to sacrifice our Protestant heritage for the National Gni-nrnmbnt. Therefore, vote for Muck. T-et every Protestant vote for Win-the-War and Mack. For the Dominion Executive, HOWARD ELLIOTT, . National Organiser. H'. SYDNEY BTT.BY, Dominion Secretary. Wellington, September 23, 1018.
