To-day is being celebrated as Dominion Day, the anniversary of New Zealand's coming of nge, for on September 26 in the year 1907, New Zealand was ■considered to be entitled to full adult membership in tho British fami y of nations and was given tho title Dominion. Tho holiday has been, in accordance with rule, "Mondayised.Tho anniversary is an important one also for The Dominion newspaper. Ihe paper was first published on tho first Dominion Day, 1907. Tho day is Being observed as a partial holiday. The Government ofnees and banks, and other places of business which commonly observe the same holidays, will bo closed, but general trading will' go on as usual in the shops. The chief amusement fixture for the day will be the race meeting at Otaki, now only a- one-day affair. In the city there are to bo a few house football matches.
