Council asking that tho lethal chamber in the corporation yards be used:for that purpose, certain days_ andi hours to be fixed for thetak-. ing in , of animals for destruction, and a small fee.bo its uso. . The steep grade of some of the- new roads being formed was also mentioned as being very hard on the animals who have to, draw loads up them'. One of the persons writing on the subject suggested that tho town-planning people might do something to' make things easier for tho horses using those roads. The inspector reported two horses and two dogs destroyed, ono case of illtreating fowls, two horses unduly flogged, and threo put off work for various reasons. Suscriptions amounting to £12 15s. 6d. wero recoived, including £2 2s. New Zealand Warehousemen's Association, £1 Is. each Harcourt and Co., Singer's Sewing Machine Co!, and Friend, £1 each Mrs. Gear, sen., and "A Mere Woman." ,
