' ' \ 'Oustomß duties .collected at the port of Wellington yesterday amounted to £6345 Is. 3d. . GOLDEN BAY CEMENT , ■■ COMPANY'S ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of shareholders in the Golden Bay Cement Works, Ltd., was held yesterday, Mr. Charles it Arthur presided. The annual report and the balancesheet, particulars of which have been published, were adopted. The retiring directors (Messrs. J. A. Plimmer and Oharles Stewart) were reelected. The meeting adopted the recommendation by the directors that a dividend of 5 per cent, (which amounts to £3CCO) be paid for the year, and that the balance (£6335) be carried forward." The retiring auditors (Messrs. B. Bucholz and D,-B. Menzies) were re-elected. A shareholder mentioned that he understood that some advances had been made in the direction, of combining Now Zealand cement companies. He wanted to know to what extent this' company had been approached. The managing director (Mr. W. M. Ifannay) said that there was a movement to amalgamate certain companies, but there was no ground for n suggestion that this company was concerned.
