CARTERTON NOTES
Mr. T. H. Fawcett, who has been farming in the .Carterton district for the past liine years, is leaving shortly to settle in the Te Awamutu district.' At an interval in the proceedings of the soldiers' "social" at Oarterton Jiis week, opportunity was takon by the | committee to make a small presentation to Mr. T. H. Fawcett, of Carrington, on the. occasion of his approaching departure ft mi the district. Mr. Gordon Hughan, Mayor and chairman of tho committee, made the presentation, which consisted of a silvermounted pipe and case. Mr. Hughan referred to Mr. Fawcctt's unselfish honorary services, extending over a period of two years, as one of the pianists for the soldiers' dances, often at great- inconvenience to himself. Mr. Fawcett suita-bb , acknowledged the gift and the kind sentiments expressed. A meeting of the South Wairarapa Poultry Association, whose headquartersare at Carterton, is to bo convened at an early date, when a resolution will he moved formally winding up tie society, ~ ,
