THE UREWERA COUNTRY

Sir,—Now that tho Government have purchased a large block of this most fertile land for (settlement it is to be hoped that tiie land will be available for settlement within a short time, the laying out of sections will take home time, no doubt, and also the making of tracks or roads. Viewing the good work done and expeditiously carried out by tho Land and Survey Department in reclaiming swamp lands and making the roads, it should .encourage the Ministor of Lands to have entire control of the making of roads to all Crown lands. Ho, as Minister of Lands, is alive to the fact that the settlement of the Country is of vital importance to the productiveness of tho Dominion's wealth, and to produce revenue wo must have inoro settlers, and the Booner tho land is open for selection and a means inade to cart uie s building material to the holding, the. quicker revenue must come in. Keeping this fact in view, I am sure the Minister of Lands is desirous of '-loing tilings quickly and economically, and it is he, as head of the Lands Department, with the valuable assistance of his officers, who has made the waste swamp lands a payable proposition for the Dominion and tho settlers.—l am, C C '\VAITING FOR"THE BALLOT.
