Honours .Mr. Justico Chapman and Mr.' Justice Sim delivered judgment this morning on the points referred to them in the petition against the'election of Henry E. Holland fot the Grey' seat. In the first four eases, the position is that the vote is declared valid; in the fifth case Lhe vote is invalid; in the sixth case the vote is invalid; in the'seventh 'invalid; and in the eighth the answer depends on ■whether tho voter made a. mistake or' .Wilfully made a false declaration. ,31r. Hamuli! said the petitioner did not. intend pursuing, the action further The bulk; of the votes 'challenged'-', we're covered by the issues. 1 and. 2, and Their Honours' decision was against petitioner. x Mr.' Holland's majority could be greatly reduced. There were 27 cases of plural voters. But, having failed on issues 1 and 2, petitioners nad no hope of success. Their Honours granted costs, as allowed by the Act, and Idft them to the Registrar to fix.
