REINFORCEMENT OFFICERS
. « NO PROMOTIONS IN NEW ZEfc LAND. Owing to tbo extreme need for trained men at the front, tbq practice of aendiim- back non-commissioned officers from the front for promotion here was discontinued some* time ago. It was this fact which made it possible for the authorities in New Zealand to find room for the Territorial officers who had refused to surrender their commissions until tho Court ruled that they must. It has been suggested lately that there might be a possibility of a reversion to tho old order of things by which men entering'camp as recruits and passing 'through the n.c.o. traming had a chance of earning a commission, but there is. in fact, little or no hope that this will be so. There will lie fen , vacancies in the small drafts now being sent away, and, in any case, it is intended that tho practice of sending men back from the tfront shall soon be resumed. There arc some officers now on. tho way to New Zealand, but i!, is not yet known whether they aro permanently unfit or not. N
