HOTEL PORTER'S THEFT'

It* appeared that accused was formerly a porter at a local hotel, and it was while he was so employed that lie stole the goods, which he sold io a second-hand dealer. fc'cnior-Sergeant Willis stated 'that, accused had been fined £3 at Mastorton, on February 6, for thett. Dockrill was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. THEFT OF SUGAR, James Wilson Moncrieff, for whom Mr. T. W. liislop appeared, pleaded auiitv to stealing on September 5, at Wellington, a 701b. bag of sugar, valued at 175., the property of Ippocrates Jia--18 Mr?" This was an error, due to a clerical mistake on the part of an officer of the Court.
