A FOUNDLING BABE
LEFT INSIDE CONVENT GROUNDS
An infant child, which had evidently been abandoned by its parents or guardians, was v found inside tlse convent grounds at Kilbirnie yesterday evening. The child, a babe about twelve months old, and a male, had been left inside the wicket gate giving entrance to the convent from the street, and was there found by 011 c of the sisters. Constable Price, who is in charge of the district, was sent for, and he took custody of tlie infant- 011 behalf of tho police.' The baby was a splendid little fellow, healthy, and well clad. It had come from 110 home of poverty. Alt tlie clothing was of good quality, was spotlessly clean; and the baby was lying in a smart new pushcart. Attached to the child's clothing was ft note in .which was written "Will you please bring up this child in your ' The child was taken to the Wellington Receiving Homo, where it will remain, at any rate "until something if known about its parentage.
