FLOOD AT WHANGAREI
1 Br Telegraph-Press Association, i -, Whangarei, September 9. AVliangarei was subjected to-a brief flood, biit of unprecedented extent-, tins morninp, following a continuous downpour for twenty-four hours, m which 4.40 inches of rain was recorded. Damage more or less serious was caused to a large motor garage, the newspaper office, business premises, and residences. In some of tho last-named J instances the oefcupants had to be res' ; cued by various means.
