WOOL COMMANDEER AND COOL STORAGE

' The Wellington provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers , ' Union passed the (following resolutions:—(l) Wool commandeer: That this executive is of the opinion that the resolution passed by the Dominion Conference, supporting Mr. Lynsar's contention that the commandeer of wool should cease three months after the termination of the war does not express the wishes of the.wool-growers, in this province, and regrets that the conference did' not support the Wellington representatives .in opposing the motion. (2) Wool profits: That tho executive heartily supports the scheme as to the disposal' of surplus values obtained on commandeered wool as formulated by Mr. E.. Newman, M.P., and as a circular is to' be sent to wool-growers, asking their consent," this executive strongly urges them to accedo to the proposal.- (3) Cool storage: That the cold storage accommodation of the Dominion'is not sufficient for tho requirements fff production during the coming season (although after the war our present 'space would be quite sufficient) ;. it is thus possible that largo quantities of produce cannot be stored, amongst which is the perishable commodity of butter. A serious loss to the State will accrue if space is not provided for butter, and we respectfully suggest that the whole subject . of additional storage space be discussed at a conference (at which all those interested should be represented) called at an early date; and whether tho cost of such additional space should not be provided by the Government; be decided. (4) That in view of the probable shortage of freezing space and the. freezing companies being.unable.to provide same for lambs, tho National Efficiency Board urge upon all farmers the necessity of providing , feed for lambs. (5) Thai; this executive ap- ' proves oF tho commandeer of meat beiiiK co-terminus with tho commandeer of wool.
