■ •* — . A TRIBUTE FROM ST. JOHN'S. At a recent meeting of the congregation of St. John's rofcrenco was mado to the Hon. J. G. W; Aitken's Moderatorship of the General Assembly, and tho following resolution was carried by acclamation:—This representative gathering of the congregation of St. John's, "Wellington., desire to express their high appreciation of the honour conferred by the Church on the Hon. J. G. \V. Aitken in calling him to tho Moderatorship of 'the General Assembly for. tlie year 1917-1918. The first Moderator chosen from the ranks of- tho eldership, Mr. Aitken tfns pre-eminently worthy, of tho choice, and in honouring : him the. Church honoured itself. Wisein counsel, tireless in service, abounding in the grace of liberality, there aro not many men who serve their day and generation withsiich entire devotion. The Church has over had tho first place in his thoughts,-; as it has ever had tho first claim upon his time and moans, j Esteemed by all Presbyterians, he is rewarded by the people of St. John's with feelings of warm personal .affection. To them the honour Tendered him by tho Church was a source of deep gratification. They congratulated him on the service, he has been able to render dining his year of office. They pray that his' bow may long abide; in. strength, and that in ever-increasing measure the grace of God may he vouchsafed him, and'through him made manliest in fruitful' labour for the Church of Christ and the Kingdom of God.- . ri
