LIVE STOCK SALES
The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operativo Association, Ltd., stock department, Pahiatua, report having held a very successful clearing sale of dairy and dry stock, horses, implements, etc- on account of Mr. J. M'Conaghty, Woodvillo, on Wednesday. The dairy herd were a very fair lot, but as several were in profit no exceptionally high prices were reached. Prices ranged from £9 to £17, the herd averaging a little, over £12 per head. The following iB a report on the other stock sold:—Rising two-year empty heifers, £5 125.; m.s. yearlings, £3 10a.; Shorthorn bull, 18J guineas; calves (few days old), 10s. to Us. each. Horses sold particularly well, aged light draught mares selling at £12 to £35 10s.; rising three-year filly, £18. Pigs sold as follow :-Storc pigs. £2 45.. each; porkers, £2 12s. '6d.; breeding sows, to £3. The Arm also held on tho same date at Mangahao, on bohalf of Mrs. H. S. Mextcd, a very succ"es6ful clearing sale of furniture, etc. All lines met with keen competition under the hammer, i especially the furniture, and practically the whole of the entries was disposed of at prices satisfactory to the vendor. Messrs. Dalgety and Co.,' Ltd., Masterton, .report having held their fortnightly sale at Eketahuna on Thursday, when they, offered a. fair yarding of sheep and cattle to a large attendance. The sheep consisted chiefly of hoggets, for which there was keen competition, and the following prices were realised:—W.f. hoggets, 255. 3d. to 283. 6d.; fat ewes. 315.; springing heifers mado from £7 2s. 6d. to £14 2s. Od.; dairy cows, £12 10s.; empty heifers, £5 to £6 10s.; I weaner pigs, from lis. 6d. to 21s.
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At Levin on Tuesday, we yarded good entries of both sheep and cattle, tho bulk of which met with a keen demand, and practically every lot changed hands at satisfactory prices, as under:—Fat wethers,- 355. 6d. to £2 65.; fat maiden ewes and wethers, £2 Os. Id.; light fat ewes, 265. to 305.; fat hosgets, 265. 10d.; owes in lamb, 20s. to 285.; ewe hoggets, 245.; fat cows. £10 2s, 6d„ £11 Vs., £11 12s. 6d., to £13; forward cows, £8 165.; store cows, £4 to £4 17». 6d.; three-year empty heifers, £7 155.; empty heifers, £3, £3 Bs., to £3 155.; weauers, to 18s.; springing cows, £8 155., £9 155., £10, to £10 15s„ to £13 10s.; springing heifers, £6 15s, £8, £10, to £10 155.; cows in milk, £5 RK .to £8 55.; purebred yearling bulls, Shorthorn, 12gns., 121 ens., to 15gns.; purebred two-year Shorthorn bulls, 20gns. to 30gns.; store piss, 275., 355., to 375. 6d.: porkers, £2 Us., £2 16s„ £3 3s, £4 to £4 9s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At our Palmerston North sale on Thursday we had an average yarding of both sheep and cattle, and prices were fn a par with rcoent sales. Quotations:—Fair hoggets, 225. lOd. to 265.; medium hoggets, 18s. to 18s. 3d.; small hoggets, 13s. 6d. to 1,5 a.; cull hoggets, 7s. 6d. to Bs. 7d.; fat eweß, 285.; yearling steers, 325. to £4 10s.; weancrs, 235. 6d.; forward cows, £7 135.; heifers in milk, £6 155.; springing cows, £10 to £11.
