EFFORT TO UNITE THE WORKERS TO WIN THE WAR, (Rec. August 30, 0.0 p.m.) Washington, August 29. Mr. Samuel Gompers (president of tho American Federation of Labour) lias arrived in London with other American Labourites, who will attend the British Trade Union Congress, and the Allied Labour Conference later at London or Paris, about September 18. The purpose of Mr. Gompers's visit is to moro closely unite the workers of the Allied countries to win the war.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
