HOME SERVICE MEN
NEW REGULATIONS. \ . Regulations under tho Military Service- Act are contained in the latest isfiie of the Gazette. The regulations bava reference chiefly to homo service. The text of the regulations is :is follow s:—-
1. Reservists called up for military f-ervice under the Military Service Act, 1016, and recruits between the agci; of i-jnoteen and fifty-live who voluntarily enlist for military' service, will bo attested into the Expeditionary Forco for general service, and shall bo posted to ( the branches of that Forco in tho following manner:—(a) To tho Foreign Service Branch —A reservist or recruit certified by competent medical authority to be fit for active service beyond the seas, and who is otherwise eligible, shall be ported to the foreign service branch. (b)' To the Homo Servico Branch —A recruit certified by competent uicdidal authority lo be unfit for service beyond the seas, or who is for the time being ineligible for foreign service by. reason of ago, or who belongs to a class of tho Second Diviaion not yet accepted for active service, shall bo posted to tho home service branch. 2. Transfers between the brandies of tlio New Zealand Expeditionary Forco shall bo carried out as follows : —(a) A soldier of tbe foreign service branch serving in New Zealand shall be transferred to the home servico branch under any of the following circumstances: When at any time on re-examination he is reelassilied by competent medical authority as unfit for active service hoyond the seas. When found to have been irregularly posted to tho foreign service branch, (b) A soldier of the hemo service branch will be transferred to the foreign service branch if certified by competent medical authority to be fit for active service beyond tho seas, as follows: When otherwise elifriblo, immediately fitness is established. When otherwise eligible, immediately ■Mβ class in tlio roserve is accepted for active service. 3. Soldiers elf the home service branch' arc- liable for service, but until the Minister of Defence shall otherwise direct will bo placed upon indefinite leave without pay. ' Soldiers of tho home servico branch v'ho volunteer and who are accepted foi actual employment on home servicoi will be engaged and will servo under Renditions laid down in general orders from time to time. t
