Messrs. Dalgcty and Company, Limited, I'ulmerstou North, report having held a heifer sale on Wednesday. Owing to recent rough weather a number of the cattle wore in low condition, and tho bulk of tho entry comprised late calvers. There was a very fair competition, and prices were in favour of buyers. Quotations:— Backward heifers, £6 7s. 6d.; £7, £7 12s. 6d„ £8, £8 ss„ to £8 10s.; springers, £9 fOs., £10, £10 55., to £12 10s. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Palmorston North, report having a medium yarding of sheep and cattle at their sale on Thursday. There was a keen demaud for sheep and a fair inquiry for cattle. Quotations:— Sheep: Small b.f, hoggets, 14s. 7d.; very fair mixed hoggets, 225. Bd. Cattle: Small yearling steers, £2 55.; empty cows, £6 17s. to £8; forward empty cows, £8 10s.; 3-year steers, £11 19s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report :-At Levin on Tuesday there was o, fair yarding of both sheep and cattle. Tho demand for the former class of stock waß poor, but all classes of cattle sold well. Quotations Light fat ewes, 27e. to 305.; store ewes, 165., 21b., 235.; hoßgetß (culls), 10s. lid., lis. Id. to 125.; hoggets (fair), 16s. lCd.; light fat bullocks, £18; store cows, £6 to £7 10a.; weancrs, 25b., £2, £3, to £3 10s.; 2-year steers (bad colours). £8: small Jersey bulls, £3 10s„ £4 10s. to £6 155.; springing cows, £9, £9 17s. 6d., £10 10s. t £11 10s., to £12; weaner pigs. 18s„ 265„ to 325.; porkers. £2 Bs., £2 14_s.,_ to £4. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. report:—At Shannon, on Wednesday, there was a fair entry of both. sheep and cattle, and practically every line changed hands at late rates. Quotations :-Light fat ewes, 285.; ewes and lambs, 30s. to 345. 3d.; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 305.; hoggets, 15s. Id., 16s. 6d., to 17b. Id.; 2-year steers, £6 155.; weaners (small), £1; empty cows, £5 135,; dairy cows, £10 to £13. COMMERCIAL ITEMS INVESTMENT SHARES. Yesterday a sale of P. and O.
