THRASHING MILL WORKERS
I Says the "Maoriland Worker":—"On (Wednesday, August 14, the representative of'tho Mill Owners' Association met |tho representatives of the Canterbury (Thrashing Mill Workers in the Trades iltall, Christchurch. Mr. Grayndlnr, Mr. jßnldwin, and Mr. Leahv represented the workers. Mr. Sheet, Mr. Lille, and Mr. pliver represented tho thrashing mill owners. The demands of tho thrashing ,mi?l workers were placed before the mill jowners, and, after a lengthy discussion, Mr. Sheet, as expected, declared the deitermination of tho mill owners not to [agree to the hourly system until the -lrjbitration Court forced it upon them, :but, at the same time, promising, after interviewing tho fanners and mill owners of Canterbury, that ho would advise the Canterbury Union if there was a possibility of a settlement. If the rales as .demanded are not agreed to, a case will Ibe stated for the thrashing mill workers at an early date."
