WELLINGTON BOAED MEETS.

The first meeting of the new Wellington Education Board was held yesterday. There were present Messrs. T. Forsyth (chairman), If. A. Wright. W. H. Field, E. P. Rishworth, A. W. Hogg, G. Urndon, J. .1. Clark. C. T. Harkness, .T. A. Shawl, and E. if. Penny.

The newly-elected members were welcomed by the chairman. If was reported that the amounts of deposits were:—Bank of JS T ew Zealand, .■£100(1; Public Trustee, JiGOOO; War Loan Certificates, JMOO: total, JHl.OOfl. The receipts since the last meeting amounted to .£15,275. and the payments to ,£10,949. General payments for tho "itrrent month were set down at .£OOIO. The cash in bank on current account on August 17 was .CIOBG.

A letter wns received respecting moneys raised for the Aeroplane Raid Sufferers' Fund. It was stated that: some of the pnrcntless children who were nerve-shat-tered were sent to the country, and were much benefited .by (ho change. The administrators of the fund wished the New Zealand children to realise how much their efforts were appreciated.

Respecting the Training College, the hoard was notified that a grant of JC7SUO had been authorised for the main school. The board decided to inspect the site.

Messrs. Clark, Shand, and C. M. Luke were elected to represent the hoard on the hoard of Welling!on Technical School managers, and the Hon. .1. G. AV.'Aitken and Mr. AV. Allan are to be asked to reconsider a decision not to stand again. Air. Lundou was elected the representative, at Potone.
