The Military Medical Board is at present sitting in Mastcrton. A very fair percentage of reservists are being passed ius fit for service.
A young man was arrested in Masterton on Monday, charged with the theft of a diamond ring, at .£SO, from a Native woman. Tho ring is alleged to have been subsequently pawned in Wellington. Tho auuiial appeal on behalf of tho Red Cross funds is shortly to be made in the AA'airarapa. Mr. Isaac Snell, a resident of the Ponatahi district, new 1 Carterton, died .on Monday in a private hospital from inflammation of the lungs, as a result of a severe cold contracted during shearing last season. The late Mr. Snell had siient 31) years in the Ponatahi district. He was liot married, but leaves a brother, Mr. .lames Snell, of Ponatahi, and two sisters, Mesdames Hcggie (Masterton), and Ralph (Paimerston North). The late settler was in his Glird year.

At the invitation of the Government Air. -I. W. Card (Mayor of I'eatherston) is attending the ceremony in connection with the piercing of the Otii'a tunnel. XIV. A lad who left Wellington on Sunday on a push-bike, and speit two nights in the open, was taken into custody by the Masterlon police on Tuesday. His parents are being comnmnirated with. The Wairarapn and East Coast P. and ■\. Korietv decided at its last meeting to draw the attention of the Wairarapa Smith County Council to the bad condition of the' main Toad between Carterton and the Waingawa Bridge, and asking that same be put in order. Lambs are beginning to make their appearance on farms iii and around the Carterton district. The changeable weather will, however, not prove beneficial to them.
