At -the Supremo Court, before tho Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), George Fitzgerald, aged 22 years, a member of tho l.''orty-fourth Reinforcements, was found guilty of assaulting Constable Willctts, at Ilawera, so as to cause actual bodily harm. On a charge of using indecent language the jury disagreed. The jury recommeuded that accused should bo leniently dealt with as he was serving his country. The passing of sentonco was deferred until Friday morning. Harry Ernest 'Williams, an Australian native, was found guilty on seven counts of carnally knowing a girl under 1G years of age, at To Ffuiti ami Ilawera. The Judge said ilio accused was a cssScmed criminal. He had been convicted five times of theft, once of bigamy and twice of smaller offences. The passing of sonlcnco in this caso was also deferred until Friday morning.
