A recent report by tlio British Government Actuary, Sir Alfred Watson, on tlio financial effect of the new provisions for war service ponsions for officers and men and their dependants, estimates the total cost of pensions and gratuities in respect of casualties already occurred, or which may bo assumed as imminent, to be for the- year 1918-10 .£30,400,000. anil for the year 1019-20, £11,500,000. These figures do not include expenditure on aiter-caro or administration.
