SERIOUS COAL SHORTAGE IN BRITAIN
PRESENT RATION NOT ENOUGH, BUT YET TOO MUCH. London, August 13. It is understood that the coal situation in Britain is more serious than is generally realised. The Government proposes to lay the facts' before the country. It is admitted that the coal ration will not meet ordinary needs, but the Government hopes the people will endeavour to do with less than the rations owing to the increasing I'rench and American requirements. The Miners' Federation meets on August 21 to consider ways of increasing the output-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
