As Mr. William Cherr;;*-,r«s driving in a gig to tlio Taratahi on Saturday night, accompanied by his wifo and two children, a motor-car, driven by a soldier, crashed into the vehicle from hehind. Itr. and Mrs. Cherry _ suffered such injuries that their admission to the Mastcrton Hospital was necessary. The children fortunately escaped. A new howling club has been formed in Masterton, and a site for a gfreen has been secured in Bennll Street.
The Wairarapa representative footballers defeated a team from the CI camp on Saturday by fort.v-ono points (thirteen tries and a .goal) to three.
Two very heavy frosts wero experienced in the Wairarapa on Sunday and Monday mornings. At tiie anniial meetin? of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last, Mr. H. W. Beetham was re-elected patron. A motion of nnpreciation of the services of tho late Mr. 0. C. Cooper was placed on record. Eight new mombers were elected.
A sum of ,£l3B ss, lid. was taken nt the Mnsterton Patriotic, Shop on Saturday, in aid of the Red Cross funds.
