DEFENCE MATTERS
•A .CONFERENCE OF OFFICERS. When issuing the report of the Defenco Commission the Minister of Defence promised that a conference of senior officers would be held to consider some of the suggestions made by the Commissioners. This conference will meet in Wellington next week and will prepare a report for the Minister regarding various recommendations put forward by the Commission. Some of the recommendations may be approved; others (bTtoinly will be opposed. The officers attending the conference will be the district commam.antt !md the heads of the various -brancues- of t : ,c Defence Department. They are likely- ta sn for some days.
