STILL MISSING. The Defence authorities have not j-ot discovered tho whereabouts of' the four German prisoners missed from the internment camp at Some? Island on FriuVy Morning, it appears certain now Unit the men are not hidden in any cave or recess on the island itsell. The theory that they havo been drowned in an attempt to swim to the shore in a heavy sea, is not confirmed by any direct evidence. The search for the men around the harbour nnd further afield has been fruitless. Tho discovery of an empty boat on tho beach in Evans Bay gave rise to a report that the men had made, their landing there. But apart from tho lack of evidence that tho boat had como from Somes Island at all, it seemed improbable that the Germans would have made their way to Evans Bay in the iectli of a southerly gale when better e.nrt nearer landing places wero offering in the other direction. A 6co\v that was reported to have been sheltering down tho harbour <jH Friday night was searched bv the police on Saturday, but no trace of tho prisoners was discovered. Rigid inquiries have been niado on Somes Island with tho object of discover, ing if the men had accomplices there, nnd it is understood that the liberty of tho prisoners is being restricted to 6omo extent.
