IMPROPER. RELATIONS WITH A YOUNG GIRL. In Iho; tJupremo Court'yesterday, before His- Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert "Stout),: the rehearing of the case against AVilliam Donald ' Stirling was taken. / Mr. P. S. K. Macassoy appeared for tho Croivh, and Mr. 'H. 'F.' O'Leary for the accused. .' . ■ Mr. George 11.- Hall was foreman'- of the jury. Sterling, who is a buslimnn and labourer/was charged'with carnally knowing a girl over 12 years of age and under tl6 years of age, at Reikiorangi. Tne evidenco was ■ the same as that given at the first trial. The jury retired at 11.20 a.m., and returned at 2.30 p.m. with a verdict: of guilty, and etroiigly recommended prisoner to mercy. His Honour ;.remanded tho prisoner until this morning:, when he will be sentenced. •;' ' , . PRISONERS FOR SENTENCE. . In the Supreme Court this morning His Honour the Chief Justico (Sir Robert Stout) will pass sentence on tho following prisoners:— •Georgo Jaines ■ Selway and Michael Kolly, breaking and entering and theft. , William .M^Bride, |. theft. Anders Andersen, assault causing actual bodily harm; _ Lawrence Bginont Windsor and AVilliam- Claude Bright, breaking- and entering aud theft. Bichard Harold. Edwin Giles, theft (two charges). -. . ■ Albert' Baxter,, forgery.
