GREAT LITERARY COMPETITION.
A novel and rather commendable proposal on the part of the N.Z. Alliance has boon adopted by the inauguration of a grand prize essay competition on the subject of "Why New Zealand should adopt the proposals or tho National Efficiency Board for the immediate and permanent abolition of the Liquor Traffic.-" The competition is open to all, there being no ago limit, and the -three prizes offered are such as to make it worth while for nil with literary ability to do their best. The first prize is JJIOO, second .K>o, and third £Si. A schedule of printed particulars can be obtained by wiring or writiii" tho secretary of the New 'bar. land Alliance, P.O. Box 1075, Wellington. All essays for tho competition must reach Wellington by Monday, September 9, 1918. It is anticipated there will be good entries, and the subject will give Eplendid scope for the best talent.
