A novel and rather commendable proposal on the part of the N.Z. Alliance has boon adopted by the inauguration of a grand prize essay competition on the subject of "Why New Zealand should adopt the proposals or tho National Efficiency Board for the immediate and permanent abolition of the Liquor Traffic.-" The competition is open to all, there being no ago limit, and the -three prizes offered are such as to make it worth while for nil with literary ability to do their best.
