SPECIFIC STATEMENT IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. (Hoc. August 7, 1.30 a.m.) London, August 5. Iα t!io llouiic of Commons, replying to Mr. Leo Smith, Mr. A. J. Balf'ou'r (Foreign Minister) stated that nobody had authorised him to act on behalf of any eiiomy Power, or had recently made peace proposals or suggestions. Tho Government had received no communication from the Allies that such proposals had been submitted to them.— L'euter.
