QUARTZ MINING AT BLACKWATER
IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Reefton, August 3. The North Blnckwater (Ziman's) Syndicate has, after spending .C 33,000 in prospecting and development work, ineluding the sinking of tke main shaft to a depth of 13G0 feet, and finding four highly-payable gold-bearing wefs, exercised'its'options of purchase, and bought the Blackwntcr Extended and Turner's and Fry's claims in the Blaekwnter district, and also on its account acquired other valuable goldmining claims, water rights, timber areas, and machinery plant. The developments, having proved such a valuable reef at the depth, practically assure tho syndicate turning out a most successful venture. The original owners leceive .£33,500 fully-paid shares. The advent of this ultimately big gold-producing mine will greatly stimulate the quartz mining industry, and the New Zealand Government, which assisted the. venture in its initial stages by' a subsidy of 435000. is to be congratulated on its foresight in assisting a purely New Zealand enterprise.
