A Press Association telegram from Christclmrch announces-.the death of Mr. | Henry Suter at the age of 77. Mr. Sutcr was a native of Switzerland, and. was at one time curator of the Auckland Museum*. He was one of. the beet-known New Zealand conchologists, being a fre-, fluent contributor. to scientific journals. Mr. E. IV Hay,'solicitor to the Public Trust Office, lias resigned his position in order to enter into private. practice as a member of the legal firm of Messrs. Barton and Mazengarb. 'Mr. Hay was first assistant solicitor to the Public Trustee for eight years, and was appointed' chief solicitor when Mr. J. W. Macdonald was constituted Assistant Public Trusteo under the. amending Act of last year. Mr. C. P. .Skerrett, K.C., returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. .Dr. J. W. M'Hwraitli, M.A., LL.B., has been appointed principal of the Auckland Training College, vice Lieutenant H. A. E. Millies, who was killed in action last year. The appointment is'for the period of the war and twelve, months afterwards. 'Dr. M'Hwraitli, who is M years of age. has been an inspector of schools in'tho Auckland district. Mr. Edward John Waddell, of Auckland, for ,10 years in the Public Works Department, Is dead, aged 72. For many years ho was librarian at the Auckland Working Men's Club.
