INFLAMMABLE OILS
''HANDLING AT THE PORTS. 1 Tho problem of the safe handling of inflammable oils was referred to by the Minister of Marine (Air. Wilford) at the* Harbours Association Conference yesterday. "It has been the practice," said Sir. Wilford, "to allow inflammable oils to foe landed on and shipped from wharves, and now that so much very inflammable oil, such as benzine, motor spirit, etc., is landed and shipped, it has /become, necessary to take steps to provide, as tar as possible, against the danger ot explosion and flre, both for the safety of poisons engaged in working it a.nd tor the protection of valuable property, such as wharves, vessels, and goods. "New regulations have been prepared bv mu to meet those requirements and grali rci'iilations have been irewarded to t the Crown Law OHiccrs for revision. Mr Wilford suggested that the conferonce 'set up a committee to meet him and discuss the proposals.
