STORAGE FOR FROZEN MEAT
A CANTERBURY PROPOSAL.
By",Tolegrapn—Press Association. Tlmaru, July 27. A largely attended meeting of woolgrowers and fat lamb raisers to-day discussed the question of additional storage offroEen meat, especially lambs, in.view of the acute shipping shortage. E. C. Studholmo opened the discussion by a proposal that the farmers interested should ask tho Pareora works to provide additional storage, the farmers to find-the. mouey. If 80,000 lambs ware provided for the cost would be only 2s. per head, and this ho recommended as a moderate .insurance against, the cost of feeding through nest winter (lis. per head). After much discussion, it wa3 decided to ask-the two companies to provide storage, and ohargo Is. a head extra, which would cover the cost, and this arrangement would place all farmers on the same footing, whereas if farmers found the means directly, only those who contributed would have the right to space. A committee was set up to go into tho matter further. Tho same meetingi discussed the proposal of Mr. E. Newman, M.P., regarding the disposal of profits from the commandeered'wool surplus in England. The meoting decided to express -no opinion, as it is .unknown how the wool is dealt with, or -whether there will be any profits.
