~S lr' ~Would yon permit mo, throagu the columns of your valuable- paper, lo express my thanks to the Acting-Prime Minister, Sir James Allen, for his courtesy in receiving the deputation to lay before linn the facts concerning the lecture oil the JliKo of Chini, delivered in the T.it.C.A. Hall on June 11, concerning which the Chinese Consul has laid cerium serious charges against me before the .Acting-Prime Minister, and in the column* of the newspapers. I should also like to thank the Hon. J. « \y. Aitken, M.L.C., Messrs. C. M. Luke, H. Aersley, and- A. Varney, national secretary, y.JLC.A., for attending at (ho deputation, and the Y.M.C.A; lioard for the kindly interest they have taken in the matter of arranging the deputation. I have to thank those gentlemen who acted as my chairmen at the lectures, and ethers who have.so kindly written to mo letters testifying that not only was there no insult offered to the Chinese, but that the meetings could only tend' to draw out sympathy and help to -the Chinese nation.
To all these gentlemen I tender my heartiest thanks for their valuable help Mid testimony, which have enabled me to lay before the Acting-Prime Minister the facts, from which I doubt not he will be able to see that there was i.ot the slightest warrant for the Chinese Consul's action.
