ON UNIFORM, ETC.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—During the past two or three weeks there have appeared in your columns several paragraphs relating to the misuse, by returned soldiers of articles of uniform worn in conjunction with mufti clothing, and it lias been etated definitely that tho polico'have'instructions to deal with any such cases coming under their observation. It will be interesting to discover whether this action is to apply to Wellington only or to all parts of tho Dominion. The" other day the writer saw a recently-returned officer in New Plymouth clad in a bluo serge suit, a (,'Vey golf cap, and the regulation short khaki coat, and the garb seemed so incongruous that a good many people looked round. Is it any wonder that in this town and district mere privates are often to be seen in hybrid apparel, a billycock hat crowning a full suit of uniform, and bo on?—I am, etc., . OLD VOLUNTEER. New Plymouth, July 20.
