Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Masterton, report having held a most successful clearine sale of dairy cows and heifors on acconnt of Mrs. JO. Roberts, Pntara, in tho Ekctahuna saleyards on Friday. July 19. Despite the inclement weather, a. snowstorm prevailing throughout the whole of the sale, there was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was exceptionally keen. The herd, as was to be expected,; coming off Putara country, at this season of the year, was not in high condition, and, taking all the adverse circumstances into account, the sale must bo set down as ono of tho most successful ever held in tho Forty Mile Bush district. Prices rallied from £6 10s. to £27 and an averaga of- £15 3s. was obtained (or the 74 cows submitted, while 23 springing heifers averaged. £10. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having a medium entry of sheep and cattle at their Feilding sale
on Friday, July 19. which sold readily ns below 1 ;—Eippty ewes, lis. Id.; mixed hog- ) gets.'l6s„ 18s. 4d„ to 225. 2d.; stord cows, £5 103.- to. £6;. springing heifers, £10 10s. to £10 155.; springing cows, to £12 10s. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report.having held their Waikanao sale on Wednesday, July 17, when they offered to the usual attendance of buyers a sinalj yarding of sheep and cattle. Prices realised wc-ro on a par with late rates, the following being principal sales effected ward empty ewes,-195.; fat lambs. 235. 3d.; good woolly hoggets. 19s. Id.; shorn medium hoggets, 13s. Gd.; store bulls, £7 to 10s.; yearling steers (colonredV £3 55.; dairy cans, (yearling calvers), £11 to £12. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At our weekly sale at Palmorston North on July 18. owing to the inclement ■weather, thoro was only a small yarding of sheep, and a fair entry of cattle, hut ■practicalY every lino changed hands at late rates. Wc quote:—Forward ewes, 245. 6d.; ewes, r.w. JRomney rams, lis. Cd.; two,
four, and six-tooth -wethers, 275. Co.; springing heifers (good), £10 los. to £1!!; r.pring- ' ins cows. £8 55.; cows in milk (poor), £4 i 1 15s. 6d. to £6 Sa.; heifers in milk, £4; , empty cows, to £8 10s. At Feildin*: on July 19, there was only a small yarding of i . sheep aid cattle. Thoro was a fair demand for all classes of stock, prices being in , fl-dvanr.o of-late rates, and the bulk of the yarding changed hands. We quote as follows;— Fat ewes, 225.. 255., to 295. lOd.; fat ! lambs, 225. 6d.: fat and forward ewes, 2's. ; Id.: owes, in lamb to.Romney rams, 225. 6d. to 28s. 7d.; empty owes, 17s. Sd. to 19s.
