Arthur Myers slated yostcrl day that the Canadian Government re- , cently found it necessary to restrict tho - exportation of certain supplies which arc ;i needed for essential industries in >~e\v - Zealand. On receipt of this information '.. I ho, New Zealand Government cabled lo o the Acting-Prime Minister of the T)nniinion of Canada in order to ascertain tho position. A letter received by last mail from the Hon. George W. Foster, tho Acting-Prime Minister of the Dominion of Canada, indicates it is the desire of his Government that on authority recognised by the New Zealand Government should make suitable representations to tho authorities in Canada requesting release of these restricted goods where circumstances justify such a course: of action. !' Mr. Myers added that he had for ?om« is time past been acting in anticipation of ■'1 this request by supporting orders by New M Zealand importers which wero placed on ii Canadian exporters. It is now also ascertained that the procedure adopted was the correct ono to follow.
