Ponny were present at the monthly meeting of tho Wellington Education Board yesterday. A deputation from Berhampore waited upon the board to protest against the erection nf the new infants' department on the already too small playground of the Brittomnrt Street School. The hoard resolved to make representations to tho Education Department as to the view nf the deputation. The chairman stated that the board also would like to see the new department erected elsewhere, and he suggested the purchase of a piece of land in Adelaide Road for the purpose. The Government, however, had authorised a grant of .£IOOO for the infant school on condition that it was ereetcd on the present, site, and to endcovonr to secure a ehango of site would result in delaying the erection of the department for at least another month. The deputation stated that they would prefer the delav if the change could bo effected. Mr. W. P. Pike was ire-elected without opposition ns representative nf the board on the committee of the Marlborough District High School. Tho chairman stated that a communication had been rece'ved from the Minister of Education stating that the Department could not agree to the withdrawal or amendment of the regulations relating to the staffing of schools issued under the Statute Law Amendment Act. The board had asked the Denar.tment to keep to the old method of staffing schools, but the Department would not agree to that proposal. It was reported that the replies of the education boards with regard to the proposal ■of the nrincinal for the employment of Training College students returning from active service was generally favourable to tho su ,rt7pctions made, which would now be lint" before the Acting Prim?
