LOAN OPERATIONS THE COMPULSORY CLAUSES STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. The Hon. Arthur M. Myers, ActingMinister of Finance, has furnished tho following particulars relating to tho revenue mid expenditure for tho quarter ended .Tuno 30, 1018, as compared with the similar quarter of 1017; also revenue for tho month of June, 1!H8 and 1917, and tho twelve months ended .Tune .10, 11H8, us eomparal with tho same period ending June 30, 1917. Commenting on the figures, the.Minister said: "It will be noticed that revenue for the quarter just ended shows an increase of i'Gl6,'ll9. Tho small decrease in income lax is .accounted for merely by (he ordinary variation of collection. The revenue for the year ended Juno ,10, 1918, as compared with a similar period ended Juno 30, 1917, shows an increaso of .12,559,299. "The expenditure for the quarter ended June 30, 1918, shows an'' increaso over the samo quarter for 1917 of ,£797,793, and is due to additional pensions, and to the fact that interest and sinking-fund charges are growing heavier year by year, as new loans are raised. As will be seen, the increased permanent charge for interest and sinking fund alone amounts to i;CBG,SGt. . "It is impossible, of course," added Mr. Myers, "to make any forecast as regards' tho future, as so much - depends upon the facilities for importing and exporting goods to and from tho Dominion." , " BEYENUE.
