BOYS' INSTITUTE
On Saturday evening a very successful Pound Packet Night was held by tho Boys' Institute Hcouts in their social hail, nearly 101) being present. The visitors first enjoyed themselves in the games' room and library, then proceeded upstairs to the social hall, where they did justice tx> ! tho refreslimsuts provided.- A vory good programme was gone through. Scout Humphrey opened with a pianoforte solo; Scout A. Hiws followed with a recitation, and ,-ts an encore gavo a "haka," to the , delight of thosß present. Mr. Norman Bing followed with a song, and Mr. Burton ':;avo a wry interesting address 011 the Zoebrugge naval raid.. Scoutmaster M. Roderiqnc contributed it song, which was encored. A part sons, "Coming Homo," was Tendered by Sergeant P. Barrow, Patrol Loader Hawthorn, and Patrol Leader Jackson. Captain J. Colvillo Cook gave a few experiences of tu , - tive service, after which prizes were presented to flic Beaver Patrol, whinh came first in the pairol competitions, the Tui and Kiwi Patrols coming second, and ihe Stag Patrol Ihinl. The muchcovnted King's Scout badge, also the Pathfinder's and first-nlass budges, were presented +0 Sergeant P. Barrov, Patrol leader E. Jackson also receiving a Pathli'nder's badge, tho presentations being made by (he Matron of the institution. Scent (master G. Bell was highly complimented on tho successful turn-out, of his patrols. Tlin National Anthem brought a most successful ovpiiing to a close..
