ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DEATH OF AN INFANT. An inquest was conducted by (ho Coroner, Mr. W. G. Hiddell, S.M.. en Saturday, touching the death of a JS-months-old child, named Robert Dean Kyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Smyth Kyle, of 83 Hiiwkostono Street. Tho child died on Friday morning. The evidence showed that bronchial pneumonia was the cause of death. A vordict was returned accordingly. DEATH ON THE MOANA. During Ihe last voyage of the Moana from Wellington to San Francisco a momber of tho pantry staff,, named J. M'Elroy, died three days before the ves--1 sol reached her destination. The cause j of tho nirm's death was really stlco decay, ho being about 70 years of age. Deceased was buried at sea. FATALITY AT TUENTHAM CAMP. Base Record* advises that No. 79,735 ?le. Herbert Lloyd Dash, of D Co., lOlli Reinforcements, was accidentally killed at Trentham Camp on Friday morning by falling from or being thrown from n horse. Particulars of the above accident show that late on Friday afternoon Private Dash, a bugler attached to , , (ho 40th Re> inforcements, was riding one of the camp horses, which suddenly bolted. Dash endeavoured to dismount by throwing his foot over the horse's neck, but bv Fonio moans or other ho tell on to his head and was killed instantaneously. The deceased was 111 years of nge, single, and n nativo of 'the Dominion. Mrs. Pnterson, of Dominion Road, Auckland, is his next-of-kin, but it is believed dial there aro other relatives in Australia.
FOUND DEAD IN A BATH. The- dead body of a single" woman, named Annie Blair, was found ma •'M- 1 at her place of residence, 13 tollW Street, on Saturday afternoon. The deceased, who was staying with a Jlrs. Bricrlv, was 27 veafs of age, and was subject to fits. 'On Saturday afternoon sho" was not feeling very well, but sigmfied her intention of having a ball. Between i and S o'clock alarm was lei.. at her lengthy stay in tho bathroom, and on investigation she was found lying in tho bath dead. The bath was empty at tho time, and it is thought that the woman took a fit, and in (lie course o her slrncfles knocked the plug mil <>t its socket. As the body was wet it is presumed thai drowning was the cause of death. The body was removed to tho Morgue and an inquest will be new.
