THE GREY ELECTION
PETITION AGAINST ME. HOLLAND'S RETURN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. . Greymouth, July 4. An election petition has been filed with the Returning Officer of the district of Grey against tho return of Mr. 11, E. Holland as member of Parliament for tho Grey seal. Various grounds arc alleged, tlio principal being that; a largn number of persons who voted did not reside in the Grey district six months previous to the election.
It is understood that if tho allegationsaro proved it is within the power of tlio Electoral Court to declare tho petitioner, Mr. T. E. C'oates, elected member for Giev, and _ there will ho no need for a fresh election.
An official recount gave Mr. Holland a majority of 148.
