MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. ,F. V. Franer, S.M., conducted the proceedings at yesterday's tittings of Hie Magistrate's Court. Phyllis Boyd was charged ivitli having loitered 111 Tory Street on June 22 for the purpose of prostitution, contrary to Hie War Jiegnlations. Amused pleaded not guilty, but evidence having been heard, sho was convicted, sentenced to a month's imprisonment, aud made tho subject of a prohibition order. On in formations of having disobeyed the conditions of maintenance orders, William Jaiues Howard was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, the. warrant to be suspended for seven days to enable defendant to pay arrears amounting to JM 19s. 2d., and William Scauulon was ordered to be imprisoned for a month, the warrant; not to be executed so long as !j.j. per week is paid off Ihe arrears, ,£!!. Donald C. M'Alister was ordered to pay tiis wife J:l per week, aud 10s. weekly, in respect of the maintenance of his llireo children. For insobriety, Robert Collier was fined .£1 and prohibited, and several iirstolfeiiders were lightly dealt with.
